Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that affects the brain, causing intense mood changes. These changes go beyond normal ups and downs, lasting from days to even weeks. They primarily affect how a person thinks, feels, and acts. Bipolar disorder causes two main mood states: mania (high energy) and depression (low energy). A person may have periods of one, the other, or a mix of both.

Bipolar Disorder is treatable.
With treatment and support, people with bipolar disorder can manage their symptoms and achieve stability. The key is early diagnosis, consistent care, and understanding from loved ones. If you or someone you know shows signs of bipolar disorder, reach out to a mental health professional. Early help can prevent symptoms from getting worse.

At TH Mental Health Services, we believe that healing is not a one-size-fits-all process. For some, healing can be achieved independently via simple introspection. For others, aids like supportive psychotherapy or professionally handled medication management can be a necessity. Medication can be a critical part of the recovery journey; not serving as a crutch, but instead a tool that assists the natural process.

Medication, while strictly necessary to manage adult ADHD, is highly recommended because of its strong evidence-based and clinical effectiveness. Stimulant and non-stimulant medications directly target the brain’s regulation of attention, impulse control, and executive functioning, which are core difficulties in ADHD.

Therapy and Lifestyle Changes play a major role in building long-term skills for managing ADHD. Approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with organization, planning, and challenging unhelpful thought patterns, while lifestyle strategies-such as structured routines, exercise, and healthy sleep habits-strengthen daily functioning. These tools are especially powerful when combined with medication but can also provide meaningful improvement on their own.

For example, large projects can feel overwhelming for adults with ADHD, which often leads to procrastination or avoidance. Breaking tasks into smaller, manageable steps creates clear starting points and allows for quick wins, which builds momentum and reduces stress. This strategy makes it easier to stay on track and celebrate progress along the way.

Because ADHD affects working memory and time management, external supports can be game-changers. Tools like calendars, alarms, visual checklists, and productivity apps help keep priorities visible and deadlines top-of-mind. Building consistent systems reduces the need to “remember everything” and makes daily life more predictable and less overwhelming.
